A private commission. Within a black walnut frame with oak windows, a fire engine is rendered in steel and fine hardwoods, its flame rising from one corner in yellowheart, orange sage, bloodwood and ebony. Its details are rendered in wood and bronze: padauk lights, ebony wheels welded with silicon bronze caps, an oak hammer, and an oak ladder with bronze steps. A hose of hollow pipe ends in a shaped epoxy tip for the water.
