Artist statement
“Welding was my first language as a maker. It taught me how to shape emotion into something lasting.”

My artwork has always been shaped by my own story. It is not meant to offer answers, only a moment of stillness, recognition, or relief. I create to transform pressure into purpose. My work blends forged steel and fine wood to explore themes of resilience, memory, and identity.
Every weld, bend, and burn is intentional, channeling energy, history, and emotional weight into form. I am inspired by the rawness of metal, the stories wood holds, and the way contrast can create harmony. Many of my pieces reflect the tension between strength and vulnerability, control and chaos, structure and flow.
Welding was my first language as a maker. It taught me how to shape emotion into something lasting. Through PLT Fab, I aim to craft work that invites reflection, reveals beauty in imbalance, and reminds people that even fractured parts can hold power.

About the artist, Mr. Pedro
Where precision is paramount.
Born in Puerto Rico, Mr. Pedro moved to Houston at age 6. At 19 he enrolled in welding school and discovered the craft's artistic side, making his first piece of metal art.
Twenty years later he is a seasoned professional welder and fitter, where precision is paramount and mistakes are not an option. He brings that precision to every piece.
His late Abuelo, his grandfather, nurtured his early aspirations, gave him his first torch set, and was a gifted woodworker. Mr. Pedro blends Abuelo's woodworking with his metalwork so that Abuelo's influence lives on in the work.
For him, art is a release. If a piece offers solace or inspiration to even one person, he has done his job.
